Apple kick started 2019 with 108 patent publications in the first three days
According to IFI CLAIMS, 2160, 2,229 and 2,103 US patents were granted to Apple in 2018, 2017 and 2016 respectively. It was ranked 9th in 2018 ahead of companies like Ford, Google, Amazon, Toyota, Samsung Display Co Ltd., Sony, Huawei, BOE Technology Group, GE, Toshiba, Hyundai & Ericsson.
In the first three days of 2019, Apple got 108 patents published. These patents are related to a variety of technologies including displays, communication, cameras, UI, wearables, operating system, wireless power, wireless earphone and even a patent related to automobiles. Nine of these patents are design patents related to displays, bands and fabric.
US is the top country with 75 publications. EU comes next with 20 publications. PCT, Australia and Germany follow with 10, 2 and 1 publications respectively.

Communication with 17 patent publications is the top category. Displays comes next with 14 publications. Cameras, user interface and wearables follow with 10, 10 and 6 patent publications respectively.
Band is the top category with 4 design patents followed by display screen with 3 design patents. Electronic device and fabric have 1 design patent each. All these design patents are published on January 1st 2019.
